Day 1 Chemka Hot Springs

Your adventure to Kikuletwa Hot Springs begins with a scenic drive from Arusha, heading toward either Moshi or Arusha, depending on your starting location. Along the way, you may catch a glimpse of the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance. Soon after, the paved road gives way to a rugged off-road track, guiding you into the heart of Tanzania’s wild landscapes.

This off-the-beaten-path route winds through striking African countryside, featuring dry riverbeds, bushland, and iconic baobab and acacia trees. As we travel, you’ll pass through rural villages that offer a glimpse into the diverse cultures and traditional lifestyles of the region’s local tribes.

Upon reaching the hot springs, you’ll be greeted by a lush, green oasis with clear turquoise waters surrounded by trees. Take a refreshing dip, swing into the water on a rope for a burst of fun, or simply unwind in the tranquil shade. Snorkeling gear is available to rent if you’d like to explore beneath the surface.

Natural Spa Experience
Kikuletwa Hot Springs is home to Garra Rufa fish—affectionately known as “doctor fish”—which are famous for gently exfoliating the skin by nibbling away dead cells. These fish are used in natural spa treatments around the world, and here, they provide a free, relaxing pedicure. You might feel a gentle tickling sensation as they work their magic. Keep an eye out as well for turtles and catfish that inhabit the springs, adding to the experience of this natural retreat.
